Born in 1961 at Gulbarga, Karnataka.
He graduated from the M S University, Baroda with a Post-Diploma in Print-Making in 1979. Since the past several years he has headed the Print –Making Department of the same University. He has held several solo shows and group shows all over India. He received the National Award in 1997 and many more awards from the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy, Bangalore, the Bombay Art Society, Mumbai and the AIFACS, New Delhi. Vijay Bagodi has access to the best print making workshop at the M S University of Baroda. He mainly works on etchings, woodcuts and lithographs. His subjects are varied but at the forefront are the human condition acerbated by both natural and manmade disasters. He is unafraid to express joy and sadness, hope and despair, love and pain and an entire range of emotions through his subjects.
