Born in 1982 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He completed his BFA from Govt. Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya Nagpur in 2004. He is the recipient of several awards including the AIFACS award in 2009, The Art Society of India Award in 2007 and 2009, the Bombay Art Society Award and the State Art Exhibition Award in 2007. In 2009 he received the All India Fine Art and Crafts Society (AIFACS) Award, New Delhi and in 2004 Dr. Bhausaheb Deshmukh Art Academy Award for Best Portrait, Maharashtra and the Camlin Award in the same year. He has had 4 solo shows and has participated in several important group shows. Nishant works with charcoal and acrylic on paper and canvas playing with dark and light patches in a dramatic way whilst portraying his subjects.
Paintings by Nishant Dange depict iconic visual form of butterflies and flora in different stages of life and arenas. It is deliberately used by Nishant to show the closeness of sentimental attachment of a young sensitive lady with nature. It reveals confidence, immense joy, exhilaration, sensitivity and love. He correlates emotional transition of a butterfly in various stages of its life to that of a young sensitive lady undergoing almost similar transformation in her life cycle.
