Born in 1939 in Halvad, Gujarat, he completed his MFA from M.S. University, Baroda. A veteran artist since the past 4-5 decades, he has participated in more than 50 shows in India and abroad. He has held solo shows in Le Havre, France, London and Bangalore. He worked at the Weavers Service Centre, Bangalore for more than 20 years. He has won awards including the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academi Award in 1972 and 1980.
For him, size matters. Small is beautiful. His finely tuned aesthetics coupled with his penchant for smaller sized works endows his paintings with a jewel like quality where his objects seem to float in the landscape much like in traditional Indian miniatures.
