Born in 1955 at Rajkot.
He received his initial art instruction from his father Sanat Thaker. He graduated in art in 1977. He has held 5 one-man shows and has participated in numerous group shows including the Rotary Poster Competition at Chicago in 1970, The International Biennale of Prints at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal in 1995, Indian Contemporary Paintings at Malaysia in 1999 and several art auctions. He has received many awards notably from the Gujarat Lalit Kala Academy. He has also received several awards including the Mahakaushal Kala Parishad Award, Raipur in 1988 & 1992 & the Gujarat Lalit Kala Academy Award and the All India Arts and Crafts Society Award, New Delhi.
His paintings are at the National Gallery of Modern Art Delhi and at the Government Museums in Chandigarh and Gandhinagar.
Avinash paints traditional architecture with fairly heavy brush strokes to achieve nuances in light and shade. His streets are eerily quiet and completely devoid of people.
He works and lives in Rajkot.
